Zanzibar is an archipelago located off the coast of Tanzania with a rich cultural history with Swahili and Islamic influences.



Stone Town is the old capital and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Interestingly enough,  the  Anglo-Zanzibar War  was a 38 minute conflict between the United Kingdom and the Zanzibar Sultanate on 27 August 1896.

Another interesting tidbit is that Freddie Mercury (Farrokh Bulsara), lead vocalist of British band Queen, was born in Stone Town
