LAN Business Class from Easter Island!

Boeing 767-300
Reg: CC-BDE (Now operated by TAM)

After a few days exploring Easter Island it was time to head down to Buenos Aires.  I head off to the Airport, covered in dust after 2 days of exploration.  I highly recommend renting a car since you can explore more of the Island than on the day tours.

IPC Airport is small but cozy. I checked in at the only Business Class desk and was given my Boarding Pass for 2D from IPC-LIM and then IPC-EZE. I inquired about a lounge but was told that none are available (More on this later)...

I went through secuirty, a simple process, no need to remove liquids nor shoes.  Simple and calm.

The departure lounge is small with a bar and a gift shop, and then found the non-existent VIP lounge. I walked in and it looked like someone's house, with a small kitchen, some sofas arranged like a living room. There were no employees inside and after determine that there was no alcohol nor snack, I left it and continued walking around.

The "Lounge"

So I started trying out the seat, it's almost the same but slightly different. Power plugs are in the back of the seats, so it's easy unplug yourself by accident while changing positions. Another negative, the seat controls have less pre-programmed options so it takes awhile to get into the right positions.

Pluses: Some more room for drinks in-between seats and the IFE now displays how much time you have till landing.

Off to Persepolis - Iran on flydubai!

Iran is just one of those countries that I've always been interested in, difficult to access on a US passport, I utilized my secondary passport in order to be able to access the country with a Visa on Arrival, this process which costs 50 euros also required me to get an invitation letter from a local tourist agency, this was a pain since due to the embargo , I had to pay a Canadian PayPal address in Euros to work around the embargo on US cards. Luckily I was able to book a FlyDubai flight without any problems.

FlyDubai FZ 271
Dubai (DXB) - Shiraz (SYZ)
Boeing 737-800

I boarded early and was able to get some decent pictures of the Business Class product. These seats look very conformable although they are recliner seats, more than sufficient for a sub-two hour flight.

Economy starts at Row 6 (an extra legroom row) which with the two exit rows costs about 100 AED per segment.

flyDubai has a hilarious safety video:

Cabin View from the back, each seat has it's own IFE with Pay-per-use option for Music or Videos, while the airshow and moving maps are free.

Getting closer to Iran...

After landing, I waited about half an hour for a visa and then met my driver to the guesthouse where I was staying in Shiraz. The following day I hired a driver to take me to Persepolis.

Persepolis is situated 60 km northeast of the city of Shiraz in Fars ProvinceIran. The earliest remains of Persepolis date back to 515 BC. UNESCO declared the ruins of Persepolis a World Heritage Sitein 1979.

Classic Anti-USA and Israel propaganda...

Afterwards I headed back to Shiraz and spent some time exploring the city, including several of the gardens downtown...

Funky statue of a tourist posing and taking pictures...

Somehow I doubt this is an authorized Apple product...

From La Paz to Cuzco on Peruvian Airlines

After two nights in one of the highest cities in the world La Paz, it was time to fly off to Cusco to catch my Copa flight back to the Americas (Via Panama and Haiti!)

Around La Paz

Fares to Lima were astronomical at over USD 350 but found a reasonable fare to Cuzco and from there I would use an award ticket.

Check in at La Paz airport was a breeze and afterwards I decided to checkout the only lounge available at the airport (which was better than sitting outside!)

My ride to Cuzco a classic Boeing 737-300

Economy Class (Single Class)

After landing I haggled a bit and caught a cab into town and explored the city (which I had already visited back in 2008) for a few hours...
