Exploring the Emirates First Class lounge in Dubai and my first time on Qantas!

Qantas a few years ago entered into a partnership with Emirates shifting all their intermediary flight stops between Europe and Australia from Singapore or Bangkok to Dubai. This also allowed code-sharing flights between the two airlines. A benefit for passengers on Qantas flying out of Dubai was that they have access to the Emirates First Class lounge in Dubai (DXB). As of March 2018, the route shifted from a stop in Dubai to a stop in Singapore.

I've got some mixed feelings regarding this flight, with many online bloggers raving about Qantas in their premium cabins and the combination of strong hard/soft product. But having flown Emirates on this same flight, I felt that Qantas really dropped the ball with the poor food options on this flight.

Yes, the departure is 2 AM but people might have different internal clocks due to connections, and might want more flexibility in their menu options.

Pre-departure snacks!

Snack service was a poor little sandwich with a rocket salad.

But the worst part was the breakfast service, with crew turning lights on almost 2.5 hours out of London, something unheard of in coach on such a short flight but really bad in First Class, where competitors offer Dine on Demand!

Best part of the flight is truly the seat and perhaps on a longer flight such as Australia to Dubai the service will be better, but I was not impressed with this segment.
