Casablanca - Istanbul CMN-IST
Airbus 321 - Business Class

United Airlines Mileage Plan until recently had a few lovely sweet-spots that allowed for intra-Africa travel at 35,000 miles in Business Class. The logic is that most flights would be routed via Cairo or Addis Ababa but in this case I was able to route via Istanbul and Frankfurt. ;)

I positioned to Casablanca, an airport that was familiar from my Qatar CMN-JFK via Doha days. The lounge situation at Casablanca is nothing special with a Priority Pass lounge available as an Arrival lounge and another one used as a departure lounge.

Turkish Airlines uses a mixture of wide and narrow body planes on routes to North Africa, with cities such as Tunisia, Algiers and Casablanca receiving a mix of Airbus 321 and 330s. Sadly my flight was operated by an Airbus 321 so I would not be able to sample the lie-flat seats available on other planes in the fleet.

The flight was pretty empty in the front of the plane but a close to full economy balanced out the loads.

As usual pre-departure drinks were offered and menus distributed.

Views over the Sahara...

Every seat on the plane has IFE with the display in the middle up on Business Class.

Service started with a drink and nuts...

A mixture of appetizers to start the meal service...

I went for the beef as my main and it was a pretty good choice. Beef can be a hit or miss on most airlines but the Do&Co catering did it's job and it came out great!

After dinner it was just a short time till landing in Istanbul and trying out once again the lovely Turkish Airlines Business Class lounge.
